Its been very busy today so chaps entry and photos might have top wait until tomorrow...

Steampunk invasion in Leeds (Friday

  • Dec. 7th, 2009 at 12:57 PM

Lets rewind a bit, on Friday I got a lift to Leeds with Alan(LJ cut seem to eat my text…so will stick to name for time being), The M1 was an horrible state of road works and slow lanes…it took us over 5 hours…arriving just in time for a quick change in the loo and a bit to eat before The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing started their set (I somehow missed them at the Asylum) and they were fantastic punky with steampunk lyrics and playing the saw, some very good and funny songs, really enjoyed their set. Next was Rome Burns...who due to a few technical problems, had to resolve to singing rude songs to the delight of the crowd, number 1 fan masey even turn on the christmas light wrapped around Simon……good gig but odd without a nevla on stage…

We stayed afterward for a few dances and made a very long journey back to London, this time took very long due to the weather…finally collapsing in bed around 6am…

Here a little hat concoction I made for the night…and photos

Alternative Bring and Buy (Sunday)

  • Dec. 7th, 2009 at 12:33 PM

Such a busy fab weekend…brain but mostly legs so tired today...as I seem to have forgotten to sit once yesterday...and decided to break in some of my new purchase by walking to work this morning…

On Sunday it was the Alternative Bring and Buy, what a great event , had a stall there, sold lots of my clothes and bought lots of new stuff…but still return with most of the profit so success…it will buy a much needed big chest to put clothes in …

Such a fun day mainly spent chattering with lots of friends and passing trade and shopping a lot too (many thanks to simonsatori to bearing the stall each time I went on another shopping wander)…got some amazing bargains (especially at the fairy goth mother stall…beautiful FGM skirt for as low as £1!!!!!), got lots of fabulous hair falls from missneedles…actually I seemed to return mainly with lots of hairs, shoes , skirts

A fabulous day, ended with roast diner at the Gatehouse with vampysheep, Rob, David and vampgirl101…many thanks for the lift again…

My bedroom is all upside down and not looking forward emptying all the suitcases and recreating clothing rails in the mayhem called my bedroom tonight.

There even a video of the day: here

Loading Ready Run

  • Dec. 7th, 2009 at 4:49 AM
What am I doing still awake at nearly 5am UK time ? Well, other than the good ole "Ath doesn't want to get out of bed when he should, instead hides in it as much as he can and this causes his sleep pattern to get all skewed" I've also been watching a metric fucktonne of the work of Loading Ready Run.

Although it's only been a few weeks since I first came across these guys I can't precisely recall where it was I did. I've a feeling Twenty Sided might have been the culprit though.

Anyway,
These
Guys
Absolutely
Rock!

Sure, there are some misses in there, it's not all utterly brilliant, but much of it is exactly that. I'm now dreading the time when I'll have gotten through all the available archives and will have to wait for new stuff on a more or less weekly basis.

So, if you've got any free time at all on your hands you could do a lot worse than clicking on the link in the first paragraph of this post and watching some of this excellent comedy.

Twelve owls drumming
Eleven psychics writing
Ten dragons a-mentoring
Nine books healing
Eight violins a-scrying
Seven cotswolds a-singing
Six hauntings a-reading
Five bo-o-o-order morris
Four windsor davies
Three double entendres
Two herb gardens
...and a surrealism in a medieval history.

An Inspector Calls

  • Dec. 3rd, 2009 at 11:02 PM
Just back from An Inspector Calls with Aly . Many thanks to my friend Laura who got us wonderful second rows seats.
What an amazing set, some scene breathtaking, got rained on (and it was freezing in there) , crokery thrown at us and more...
It wasn't at all what a expected and left me a bit perplex at the end ...I guess I was expecting a final explanation or tirade but a very enjoyable production.

Tomorrow :) Rome Burns play Leeds

  • Dec. 3rd, 2009 at 12:12 PM
ROME BURNS + THE MEN THAT WILL NOT BE BLAMED FOR NOTHING
Doors 7:30pm, first band onstage 8pm, clubnight from 10pm
£4 which includes entry to Friday Flock!

Rome Burns are the UK's most charming Goth band. According to Mercer: "Their music can at times be rawly invigorating while at others takes on a more soothing glow, dazzling you with restraint and the best lyrics the UK Goth scene has actually witnessed". Mercer also adds that Rome Burns "are so head and shoulders above the rest I think they've also been designing stilts", praise indeed!

The Men That Will Not be Blamed for Nothing are a steampunk band from London, featuring Andy Heintz from Creaming Jesus and Giant Paw. Their name is a reference to the chalked graffiti discovered above a section of blood-stained apron thought to have been discarded by Jack the Ripper as he fled the scene of Catherine Eddowes' murder. They describe themselves as "Crusty punk meets cockney sing-songs meets grindcore in the 1880s."

My dream event....IS & Faery

  • Dec. 2nd, 2009 at 12:43 PM

Very little details at this stage but the faeries are telling me that there is a Faery Ball planned for 3rd April 2010 with Inkkubus Sukkubus playing! It's in Canterbury.

More details will be later available at www.magicalfestivals.co.uk

To say I might be excited is an understatement

I finally made it to Zeitgeist, alongside [info]vampyresheep , rob, [info]simonsatori
and Iain very nice pub; they created me a wonderful concoction out of some beer and fruits…tasty. The food was okay not that exciting as menu mainly involving meat and potato.
A cold but beautiful walk on the Thames bank to join Patrica, Andrew,
[info]sahra_patroness , [info]enlyyl , [info]noughat and more friends........ at the Movieum

It was fabulously surreal to walk about amongst the film museum after hours. From giant yeti to huge chess piece, Marcus even took us on a little private tour to see Excalibur, Hellraiser and other wonders in the darkness.
The debating chamber itself was a perfect venue (apart from being very cold), last time I was there was for Jedi school….
The screenplay reading the Hand Factory at was really interesting, never been to anything in that format, very odd at first, 2 readers setting the scenes and lots of actors standing time to time to read their part, they were all positioned on the podium, and we had background music.
Oddly enough after the initial uncertainty it was very easy to get into it and actually quite visual. The screen play was also very good, dark and funny…Patricia Quinn was most excellent.

Afterward we stayed a little at the bar, meeting crew and blabbing about what we just seen.

This was only the first night, it is on all week and it is free.
See program here: http://www.themovieum.com/component/content/article/1-latest/340-movieum-events.html

Love that venue:

This is one for all the long-time fans of FairyGothMother who loved our Camden shop when it first opened - we’ll be attending the Alternative Bring and Buy Sale next Sunday (6th December) with an enormous mountain of goth, fetish and cyber dresses, skirts, capes, gowns and even a few menswear items, all in aid of charity. We’re hoping to donate the proceeds to the mental health charity, MIND, which provides support and information on mental health.

The Alternative Bring and Buy sale ( http://www.alternativebringnbuy.co.uk ) is “a small and friendly alternative market", where you can buy everything from clothes, shoes and accessories to records, knick-knacks and beautiful hand-made items, and will be held at The Dome (upstairs at the Music Box) in Tufnell Park, which is right next to the Northern Line tube station. It’s only 50p to get in, which allows you as much time as you like between 11am and 5pm to browse and pick up something cheap and cheerful.

Prices will start at around £2 (yes, £2!) so come visit our stand, grab yourself a massive bargain and do your good deed for the day at the same time. Look forward to seeing you there!

Location: Upstairs at The Music Box, The Dome, 179 Junction Road, London N19 5QQ
Opening Times: 11am - 5pm.

Ungrumpy old man

  • Dec. 1st, 2009 at 6:35 PM
Haven't felt the need to say much about anything for a while. Still don't to be honest. I've been out of the social loop for so long now that nights out seem far less attractive a proposition than a cup of tea and a good book or an evening spent tinkering with my computers. I don't think much of significance has happened to me that needs to be broadcast either... as you might expect, given such reclusive tendencies.

I have spent some rather pleasant time cat sitting in Kirkstall and I'm scheduled to do it again later this week. I must say that I love that area and would gladly relocate if I could afford to live there. Sadly, a bedsit there costs about £75 per week to rent, whereas my own flat in Hull... a rambling affair with a spare room in the attic has been holding steady at £50 per week for the last few years and it's a mere 20 minute walk from my job.

So, in summary, life's not at all bad at present. My modest needs are met and there's no immediate source of stress.Under such conditions I feel like a very rich and fortunate man.

And now... this.

Christmas Tree time again :-)

  • Dec. 1st, 2009 at 12:19 PM

I love this time of the year when I add even more fairy lights everywhere, the flat been cover in tinsels, the mulled start appearing at dinner…I know I always start way too early but I was still adding bits this morning, so officially I did wait for December to do the Xmas tree.

My plan this year was to just have a theme, keep to just either one colour, one style but as always I completely failed at it...there was skulls, then there was butterflies, then there was flowers, then there was jewelery and then there was no more tree visible…(photos taken on Saturday so still work in progress :)

Next Xmas step is to work out , how all those presents gathered under the desk for the past few months will fit in our suitcases…

Cocktail Galore

  • Dec. 1st, 2009 at 9:48 AM

On Sunday night , we joined Donna at Bar55 to do some NYE tickets swapping and a much needed catch up session…and ended up very very tipsy on cocktails...the place is dangerous…hundreds and hundreds on the menu, buy 1 get 1 free…some with ice cream, biscuit, cheesecake, smoothies…my new favorite is the cranberry and cinnamon martini in which they add a flame orange peel…the raspberry mojito was damn lovely too…then it get hazy…afterward we stumbled into bento giggling, attempting to look sober whist ordering food…then I ate the whole wasabi lump in one go thinking it was a bit of avocado from my maki…much green tea was needed… I can say that Simon and I not been that drunk in a long time.

So many cocktail ...the proof..the naughty proof )
